Abstract:

Abstract:

COMMON APPROACHES TO SIMULATE NATURALLY FRACTURED RESERVOIRS (NFRS) ARE DISCRETE FRACTURE NETWORK (DFN) AND THE DUAL CONTINUUM MODELS. THE FORMER SUFFERS FROM INAPPLICABILITY FOR REAL FIELD BECAUSE OF COMPUTATION COST AND THE LATER HAS CHALLENGE FOR APPROPRIATE DESCRIPTION OF THE MASS TRANSFER BETWEEN MATRIX AND FRACTURE. THE RECOVERY CURVE METHOD IS A NEW APPROACH INTRODUCED TO DEAL WITH THESE CHALLENGES. THIS METHOD DECOUPLES THE LOCAL MATRIX DEPLETION CALCULATION FROM THE REGIONAL FRACTURE FLOW AND CAN BE CONSIDERED AS A COMPROMISE BETWEEN THE TWO APPROACHES. THE MENTIONED METHOD ATTACKS THE CHALLENGE OF PROPER DEPICTION OF MATRIXFRACTURE TRANSFER FUNCTION. THIS PAPER PRESENTS AN APPROACH TO DETERMINE MATRIX-FRACTURE MASS EXCHANGE BY HISTORY MATCHING. A COLUMN MODEL FROM A REAL FRACTURED RESERVOIR IS EXTRACTED AND THROUGH HISTORY MATCHING, RECOVERY CURVES FOR WATER IMBIBITION AND GAS GRAVITY DRAINAGE ARE DETERMINED. BASED ON THE RECOVERY CURVE METHOD, THESE CURVES REPRESENT MORE CREDIBLY THE REALITY OF THE MATRIX-FRACTURE INTERACTION AND CAN BE APPLIED TO DESCRIBE MATRIX-FRACTURE COMMUNICATION TO FORECAST THE PRODUCTION. THE RESULTS SHOW VERY GOOD AGREEMENT WITH THE HISTORY OF THE MODEL. HYBRID GENETIC ALGORITHM IS USED AS THE OPTIMIZATION TOOL AND FOR UNCERTAINTY QUANTIFICATION NEIGHBORHOOD-BAYES ALGORITHM (NAB) IS EMPLOYED. THE BAYESIAN CREDIBLE INTERVAL (P10-P90) OF THE PROPOSED METHOD IS ACCEPTABLE.

Abstract:

This paper is aims to review the book entitled Review of HISTORY: What and Why? byBeverley Southgate. Our findings show that this book is not an original work which contains speculations of the author, but it is an elementary text book about one of the most important questions of the philosophy of HISTORY, i. e. Does HISTORY have any kind of objectivity? In a good manner, he gathered views of the former as well as the latter. Also, he shows that how the HISTORY, as a disciplines affected by other fields of humanities. Its language is simple and has a logical structure. But relativistic and subjectivist approach of the author is one of the challenging aspects of this book in Iranian philosophical atmosphere. This book is old and its subject matters are very limited.

Abstract:

The traditional method for studying non-stationary signals is spectrogram based on the short-time Fourier transform (STFT). The well known limitation of the STFT is the inherent trade-off between time and frequency resolution. The Wigner-Ville (WV) distribution has the best time-frequency resolution, but its draw back is generating cross-terms. The MATCHING pursuit (MP) distribution based on using the Gaussian atom is always positive, does not include crossterm, and has convenient resolution. In this paper, we have shown in addition to the known properties, the MP distribution can also remove the additive noise inherently. On the other words, we are able to remove the noise just by limiting the algorithm iterations and without paying any additional cost. Although the MP distribution based on using the Gaussian atoms is always positive and it has convenient resolution, according to the MP the time marginal and the frequency marginal will not be obtained accurately. In this paper, it has been shown that by implementing the minimum cross entropy (MCE) technique according to the MP distribution as a priory positive distribution, the new extracted distribution has the most similarity to the MP distribution and it also satisfies the correct time and frequency marginal.

Abstract:

In this paper, a new robust approach based on Least Square Support Vector Machine (LSSVM) as a proxy model is used for an automatic fractured reservoir HISTORY MATCHING. The proxy model is made to model the HISTORY match objective function (mismatch values) based on the HISTORY data of the field. This model is then used to minimize the objective function through Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (ICA). This procedure leads to MATCHING of HISTORY of the field in which a set of reservoir parameters is used. The final sets of parameters are then applied for the full simulation model to validate the technique. The obtained results showed that due to high speed and need for little data sets, LSSVM is the best tool to build a proxy model. Also the comparison of PSO and ICA showed that PSO is less time-consuming and more effective.

Abstract:

To perform any economic management of a petroleum reservoir in real time, a predictable and/or updateable model of reservoir along with uncertainty estimation ability is required. One relatively recent method is a sequential Monte Carlo implementation of the Kalman filter: the Ensemble Kalman Filter (EnKF). The EnKF not only estimate uncertain parameters but also provide a recursive estimate of system states such as pressures and saturations. Due to high computational cost, however, the EnKF is limited to small size ensemble set in practice. On the other hand small ensemble size yield spurious correlation within covariance of state. A remediation to this problem is to employ covariance localization to remove long-range spurious correlations. In this study, five distance base localization functions have been implemented and analysis on two different cases to obtain a better HISTORY MATCHING with EnKF. The results indicate that quartic correlation function produce better results than others especially to the popular fifth-order correlation function meanwhile maintain more total variance at the end of the assimilation.

Abstract:

HISTORY MATCHING IS THE PROCESS OF UPDATING RESERVOIR MODEL USING PRODUCTION DATA. IT IS NECESSARY BEFORE FORECASTING FUTURE PRODUCTION. THE PROCESS IS NORMALLY CARRIED OUT BY RESERVOIR SIMULATORS, WHICH IS VERY TIME-CONSUMING. AS A RESULT, ONLY A SMALL NUMBER OF SIMULATION RUNS ARE CONDUCTED AND THE HISTORY MATCHING RESULTS ARE NORMALLY UNSATISFACTORY. A GENETIC ALGORITHM IS APPLIED TO THE PROBLEM OF CONDITIONING THE ROCK PROPERTIES OF A RESERVOIR MODEL ON HISTORIC PRODUCTION DATA. THIS IS A DIFFICULT OPTIMIZATION PROBLEM WHERE EACH EVALUATION OF THE OBJECTIVE FUNCTION IMPLIES A FLOW SIMULATION OF THE WHOLE RESERVOIR. DUE TO THE HIGH COMPUTING COST OF THIS FUNCTION, IT IS IMPERATIVE TO MAKE USE OF AN EFFICIENT OPTIMIZATION METHOD TO FIND A NEAR OPTIMAL SOLUTION USING AS FEW ITERATIONS AS POSSIBLE. IN THIS STUDY WE HAVE APPLIED A GENETIC ALGORITHM TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. IN ORDER TO RUN RESERVOIR SIMULATIONS COMPOSITIONAL SIMULATOR E300Ò APPLIED TO BE COMPARED WITH OBSERVED DATA. THE MEAN SQUARE ERROR IS USED AS OUR FITNESS FUNCTION THAT SHOULD BE MINIMIZED. USING MATLAB GENETIC ALGORITHM TOOLBOX WITH 3 VARIABLES WILL RESULT IN MATCHING BOTTOM HOLE PRESSURE HISTORY OF WELL NO.2 OF THE RESERVOIR.

Abstract:

HISTORY MATCHING USUALLY IS DONE FOR MODEL VERIFICATION. A GOOD HISTORY MATCHING, HOW EVER DOES NOT GUARANTEE A GOOD MODEL. ALSO THE MODEL IS ONLY A REPRESENTATION OR AN ANALOGY OF THE RESERVOIR, BUT CHOOSING REASONABLE PROJECTION CAN TUNE THE MODEL FOR SPECIAL PURPOSES. UNLIKE CONVENTIONAL RESERVOIRS, DIFFUSION CAN AFFECT SIGNIFICANTLY ON AVERAGE RESERVOIR PRESSURE, FIELD WATER CUT AND FIELD GAS OIL RATIO OF FRACTURED RESERVOIR, BECAUSE MASS TRANSFER AND FLUID FLOW IS OCCURRED BY DIFFUSION BETWEEN MATRIX AND THE FRACTURE. IN BLACK OIL SIMULATION DIFFUSION TAKES PLACE WITH IN BOTH GAS AND OIL PHASES. THE CALCULATION OF THE DIFFUSIVITY IS ANALOGOUS TO THE CALCULATION OF TRANSMISSIBILITY, WITH THE PERMEABILITY REPLACED BY THE POROSITY. IN THE CASE OF FRACTURED RESERVOIRS MATRIX-FRACTURE COUPLING DIFFUSIVITIES ARE PROPORTIONAL TO THE OVERALL CELL VOLUME AND TO THE MATRIX CELL BULK VOLUME. IN THIS STUDY A CONSISTENT BLACK OIL MODEL IS USED TO STUDY THE EFFECT OF DIFFUSION ON MODEL PERFORMANCE. FIVE PHASES ARE PRESENTED IN THE MODEL INCLUDING OIL, WATER, GAS, DISSOLVED GAS AND VAPORIZED OIL. THE DIFFUSION COEFFICIENTS AND AVERAGE PHASE MOLECULAR WEIGHTS FOR EACH PHASE HAVE TO BE SUPPLIED. IN THE CASE OF CROSS PHASE DIFFUSION SEPARATE GAS IN OIL, GAS IN GAS, OIL IN GAS AND OIL IN OIL DIFFUSION COEFFICIENTS ARE CONSIDERED AND EFFECT OF EACH PARAMETERS ARE STUDIED.

Abstract:

THIS PAPER DESCRIBES A RESERVOIR SIMULATION BY MEANS OF LOG BASED ENDPOINTS AS IMPORTING DATA.THERE ARE SOME PROBLEMS IN USING CORE FLOODING EXPERIMENT DATA IN THE RESERVOIR. IT’S NOTEWORTHY THAT THE NUMBER OF CORE SAMPLES IS VERY LIMITED AND NOT EVERY ROCK TYPE HAS REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLE. ALSO SOME CORES ARE EXTRACTED WHICH ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR SOME SPECIFIC EXPERIMENTS SUCH AS WATER-OIL DISPLACEMENT EXPERIMENT. THEN IT WAS DECIDED TO USE PETROPHYSICAL LOGS TO DETERMINE END POINTS. FOR THIS PURPOSE AFTER DETERMINING THE TRANSITION ZONE OF THE RESERVOIR, IRREDUCIBLE WATER SATURATION MAP IS DEVELOPED. ALSO END POINTS IN CAPILLARY PRESSURE AND RELATIVE PERMEABILITY CURVES ARE GENERATED FROM WATER SATURATION AND POROSITY DATA OF LOG BY ATTENTION TO LITHOLOGY. FINALLY AFTER DEFINING ALL RELEVANT INPUT DATA TO THE SIMULATOR, THE RESERVOIR MODEL INITIALIZED SUCCESSFULLY AND HISTORY MATCHING PROCESS IS DONE.ACCEPTABLE HISTORY MATCHING SHOWS THAT DIFFERENT PARAMETERS TAKE THEIR MOST LIKELY VALUES IN THE MODEL.
